[TW Retail] Staff Back-end Engineer

Taiwan engineering is a dedicated engineering org for Coupang core business in

Taiwan. Coupang started the business in Taiwan from 2022 and the business is

growing fast, and we see many opportunities there. The team has end-to-end

ownership of Taiwan systems, and we are working with Taiwan business

stakeholders, product team very closely to wow the customers and scale the

business. We will record another history of Coupang in Taiwan. We develop and

maintain scalable and sustainable platforms to empower our business, including

but not limited to Search Advertising Platform, Affiliate Platform, Display

targeting & re-targeting Platform, CRM, Audience Platform, Push Marketing

Platform, and other core marketing services for landing, tracking, personalization

& attribution. We leverage big data, NoSQL, analytics, real-time processing and

Machine Learning to build mission-critical and highly scalable services that are

reliable 24/7.

Affiliate platform is a product that can help publishers monetize their traffic by

showing Coupang products as ads. We build multiple powerful tools to onboard

partners to our affiliate program, including a creative creation and sharing tool, an

AI-based recommendation engine, and a flexible commission settlement/payment

system.

l Architect, design and build scalable systems that will have a direct impact on

customer acquisition, experience, conversion and retention

l Develop close relationships with Product and tech team in China and Korea

l Establish and execute short and long-term architectural roadmaps for the

business

l Drive continuous improvement to the efficiency and flexibility of the platform

and services while keeping high bar for customer trust, performance and

availability

Basic Requirements:

l Bachelor/Master/PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent

fields

l 10+ years of industry experience of increasing responsibility leading a group

of engineers, 5+ years of experience in software development in large

distributed systems, web services and Java capability

l Knowledge of container and microservice deployment technology, such as

Kubernetes、Docker etc; familiar with monitoring tools, such as

Prometheus、Grafana etc

l Experience in designing and implementing high-concurrency, high-availability,

and high-scalability systems;

l Familiar with distributed system architecture, microservice architecture and

design, and message queue, cache, database etc core backend knowledge

l Growth mindset, company-wide perspective. Focus on business problem

solving, and data-driven

l Strong competency in delivering results in an environment of rapidly changing

requirements with appropriate trade-offs

l Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and dive deep

l Experience working closely with global distributed teams

Preferred Qualifications:

l Prior experience in eCommerce industry

l Experience working in tier-0 systems, distributed systems

l Fluent English communication

l Experience in advertising systems (such as DSP, RTB, attribution) and alliance

systems (such as CPS, CPA, channel management) is a big plus
