The Technology Platforms Division (TPD) drives the growth of the Rakuten Ecosystem by delivering innovative, high-quality technology platforms characterized by integrated control and strategic partnerships.
Within TPD, the Ecosystem Platform Supervisory Department (EPSD) develops scalable and reliable platforms that support the entire Rakuten Ecosystem globally, fostering a culture of ownership and data-driven decision-making.

The Marketing Cloud Platform Department (MCPD) is responsible for leading the strategic direction, development, and implementation of the company's marketing-related product portfolio. Our core mission is to empower Rakuten's internal marketing teams by providing engaging, respectful, and cost-efficient marketing platforms centered on customer needs.

We are looking for problem-solving oriented and talented software engineers who have experience in building distributed systems and practical applications in Communication Platform services. In this role, you will be involved in design, develop and operate our system which contains campaign management, contents management, segmentation, personalization, marketing automation, scheduling, message delivery, and measurement/analysis features. 

Position Details

• Design, develop, test and operate our services inside our Communication Platform.

• Investigate design approaches, evaluate the technical feasibility, and deliver top-quality experiences. 

• Implement innovative features to continue improving current systems. 

• Create elegant architectures for performance, availability, reliability, and scalability. 

• Write clean, maintainable code and performing peer code-reviews. 

• Troubleshoot production incident and provide countermeasure. 　

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 

• More than 8 years of experience in software development. 

• Proficiency in Java and Kotlin programming language.

• Knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Good communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Language: Business Level English

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Unix/Linux environments. 

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline by Jenkins, Docker, and k8s. 

• Knowledge of test automation (Karate, BDD, Cucumber). 

• Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture. 

• Knowledge in Email industry is a plus. 

• Knowledge of Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) services is a plus.

• Knowledge of front-end development such as Angular and React is a plus.

• Working with mission critical services is a plus.

• Strong ownership and desire to mentor other engineers.
