AutoStore – moving things forward.
AutoStore is hiring a Principal Architect who will own a significant portion our our middleware. In this role you’ll work with eng leadership to define our technical vision, build world class architecture, and ensure that our engineering team is able to execute on the plan. You’ll ensure that we have robust connectivity between our cloud and on prem systems and design systems that ensure secure integration, data flow, observability, and scalable platform design.
Define responsibilities and integration boundaries across platform layers, ensuring clear ownership, scalable design, and appropriate separation of concerns.
Define API, messaging, and integration contracts across platform components and external system interfaces, ensuring clear ownership, scalability, and maintainability.
Contribute to the architecture of the CubeVerse platform, including secure and scalable end-to-end connectivity from on-premises environments to cloud services.
Define expectations for latency, throughput, availability, fault isolation, and graceful degradation across operational scenarios.
Define data flows and architectural patterns that support performance, reliability, and continuous optimization across the platform.
Define scalable coordination patterns across controllers and operational domains, including task allocation, dependency management, and conflict resolution.
Own architecture decisions, reference designs, and technical review processes; mentor engineers and set engineering standards.
10+ years in software engineering with 3+ in an architect capacity
Must have significant experience in different environments – for instance both on-prem and cloud skillsets are required.
Warehouse logistics, automation, or intralogistics domain experience (ideally with 2–3 years of relevant exposure).
Strong experience with modern programming languages and platforms relevant to control systems, orchestration layers, middleware, or large-scale backend services.
Proven design of orchestration / coordination layers or middleware operating across independent subsystems.
Strong grounding in distributed systems fundamentals: concurrency, state machines, event-driven/messaging architectures, fault tolerance, and eventual consistency.
Experience defining APIs and integration contracts between independently-owned systems.
Ability to reason about performance, throughput, reliability, and failure modes in physical or operational environments.
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience designing integrations across independently owned software and control-system components.
Track record evolving platform architectures to support scalability, extensibility, and maintainable integration patterns.
Cloud architecture experience, particularly with secure hybrid connectivity, cloud integration patterns, observability, and platform services connecting on-premises systems to cloud environments.
Strong expertise in distributed systems, control-platform architecture, APIs, messaging, data contracts, concurrency, fault tolerance, and performance-sensitive software design.
Strong familiarity with cloud platforms, hybrid connectivity, CI/CD, observability, and modern DevOps practices relevant to platform delivery, operations, and end-to-end on-premises to cloud integration.
