What you’ll do
Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls Engineer
Job Level: Engineer 1 – Engineer 2 (Based on Experience)
As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, you will support the operation, maintenance, optimization, and expansion of critical facility infrastructure supporting advanced semiconductor R&D operations. You will work closely with facilities operations, engineering teams, contractors, and service providers to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility performance.
Controls & Instrumentation
- Support operation and maintenance of facility control and instrumentation systems.
- Assist with design, modification, and optimization of automation systems.
- Support development and maintenance of SCADA, PLC, HMI, industrial communication networks, and instrumentation systems.
- Review and update engineering documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, Single-Line Diagrams, Instrument Datasheets, I/O Lists, Control Narratives, Wiring Diagrams, and Hardware Drawings.
PLC, SCADA & Automation
- Support development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC-based control systems.
- Assist with programming using Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text.
- Support HMI and SCADA application development and maintenance.
- Participate in system upgrades, testing, startup, and commissioning activities.
Industrial Networking
- Support configuration and troubleshooting of industrial networks.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of Ethernet switches, OPC servers, industrial gateways, and network infrastructure devices.
- Work with industrial communication protocols including EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Foundation Fieldbus, and HART.
Toxic Gas Monitoring System (TGMS)
- Support operation, maintenance, and reliability of Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems.
- Assist with TGMS upgrades, modifications, and system improvements.
- Troubleshoot system issues and support corrective actions.
- Ensure integration with facility monitoring and control systems.
Facility Projects
- Participate in facility infrastructure design reviews.
- Support process tool installation and facility modification projects.
- Assist with construction coordination, startup, testing, and commissioning.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement facility improvements.
Facility Operations
- Support day-to-day operation of facility control systems.
- Coordinate work with contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with Lam standards and engineering requirements.
- Participate in operations meetings and support action item closure.
Safety & Reliability
- Support SIPP reviews, risk assessments, and EH&S compliance activities.
- Promote safe work practices and support GWS safety programs.
- Assist with preventive maintenance, reliability initiatives, and capacity planning.
- Monitor system performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Project Support
- Support capital and operational projects.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
- Track project progress, deliverables, and documentation requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Controls Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Related Engineering Field
Equivalent technical certifications and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- 1~3 years of experience in Controls & Instrumentation Engineering, Industrial Automation, or Facility Engineering.
- Semiconductor R&D, wafer fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or critical infrastructure experience preferred.
- Experience supporting automation and control systems is desirable.
