Gas & Chemical Engineer major Roles
- Provide technical engineering ownership for Gas & Chemical and Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) infrastructure systems at KTC (Korea Technology Center) and support Fremont and Tualatin campuses as required.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Gas, Chemical, Bulk Gas Yard (BGY), and UPW systems.
- Lead the planning, operation, optimization, and continuous improvement of Gas & Chemical utility infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant facility operations.
- Act as the primary technical interface with internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical leadership for infrastructure capacity planning, facility expansion, and utility system reliability initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, optimize, and modify gas, chemical, and UPW infrastructure systems to support facility operations and future growth.
- Review and evaluate new gases and chemicals, including compatibility, stability, reactivity, and process safety assessments.
- Conduct design reviews and approve gas, chemical, and UPW utility requirements for new tools, equipment, and facility expansion projects.
- Manage capital and expense projects related to gas, chemical, and UPW systems, including scope definition, budgeting, installation, commissioning, and startup support.
- Review equipment specifications and oversee installation, upgrades, and replacement activities for gas, chemical, and UPW systems.
- Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), engineering standards, and operational guidelines.
- Analyze system performance issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, safety, efficiency, and uptime.
- Maintain infrastructure capacity models, load forecasts, and long-term plans for gas, chemical, and UPW demand growth.
- Create, review, and release engineering drawings, technical documents, and bills of materials through the engineering change management process.
- Lead Chemical Request Form (CRF) reviews and Management of Change (MOC) processes for gas and chemical systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local regulations, permit requirements, industry standards, and company policies governing gas, chemical, and UPW operations.
- Serve as the primary technical interface with regulatory agencies and support regulatory inspections, audits, permit applications, renewals, modifications, and compliance reporting.
- Monitor and manage regulated gas and chemical inventories, storage capacities, consumption limits, and hazardous material requirements to maintain continuous regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate regulatory changes and emerging requirements, assess operational impacts, and implement necessary system and procedural modifications.
- Operate and manage Bulk Gas Yard (BGY) facilities, including bulk gas storage, distribution systems, maintenance programs, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Ensure safe and compliant operation of BGY systems through routine inspections, risk assessments, preventive maintenance, emergency preparedness, and contractor management.
- Monitor BGY performance, capacity utilization, and future demand forecasts to support uninterrupted production and facility expansion requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the design, operation, and engineering of gas and chemical distribution systems.
- Experience working in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facility infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with applicable international standards, including IEC standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting government agencies, regulatory inspections, audits, and permitting activities.
- Experience managing gas and chemical systems in compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements.
- Experience operating and maintaining Bulk Gas Yard (BGY) systems and related gas infrastructure.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials management, chemical safety, and process safety assessment methodologies such as HAZOP.
- Strong experience in root cause analysis (RCA), system troubleshooting, and reliability improvement.
- Proven experience managing capital projects, facility infrastructure upgrades, and system expansion initiatives.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience leading technical and cross-functional projects in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Experience with Chemical Request Form (CRF) and Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Professional certifications or licenses related to Gas, Chemical, Safety, or Hazardous Materials Management.
- Proficiency in CAD tools and engineering documentation processes, including BOM, ECN, P&ID, and engineering drawings.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
