Cutback is building an AI that understands speech, vision, and context in raw footage, organizes it, and generates rough cuts. The Challenge
We are building an AI that edits video. It turns out to be one of the hardest problems in applied ML, as the craft of good video editing resists automation in ways most problems don't:
- Massive Scale:Inputs range from hundreds of gigabytes to multiple terabytes per project.
- No Ground Truth:The craft of editing barely exists as structured data anywhere on the internet.
- Zero Margin for Error:A single-frame error (0.03s) is immediately obvious and jarring to viewers.
- Subjective Success:There is no single correct answer. The exact same footage can become high-energy entertainment or a grounded documentary depending entirely on intent.
Solving this requires engineers who think beyond conventional software boundaries. You will touch video-understanding pipelines, AI agents, evaluation framework, and core infrastructure - whatever it takes to make the AI better.
What You'll Do
- Build the Brain:Design the systems that watch raw footage and dictate what deserves to exist in the final cut.
- Ship and Iterate:Turn highly ambiguous problems into production-ready systems that are used daily by real creators.
- Elevate the Output:Design AI that reasons through narrative and produces edits that feel highly intentional, not "AI-generated."
- End-to-End Ownership:Own core problems from ideation to production, directly shaping how thousands of creators tell their stories.

Hiring Process
- Application Review → 1st Interview (Technical) → 2nd Interview (Culture) → Offer Discussion → Final Offer
- A reference check may be conducted as part of the process.
- Applicants must have no restrictions on overseas travel or employment. (For male applicants, military service must be completed or exempted.)
- If any information provided in the application is found to be false, the offer may be withdrawn or other disadvantages may apply.
Working Conditions
- Employment type:Full-time, with a 3-month probation period. Continued employment is determined by performance evaluation.
- Location:8F, 50 Seolleung-ro 93-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea (5-minute walk from Seolleung Station).
- Working hours:Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
