👋 About the Team
The ILC Team integrates Intellectual Property (IP), Legal, and Compliance into a single organization, serving as the foundation for protecting Nota’s technology and business. We manage risks at the intersection of technology and business while going beyond legal reviews to proactively design operational processes and governance frameworks.
Working closely with experts across R&D, Information Security, and Infrastructure, we transform the company’s core innovations into valuable intellectual property and ensure they remain well protected.
📌 What You’ll Do at This Position
In this role, you will lead the development of patent strategies for Nota’s core technologies, including AI model compression and optimization, Edge AI, and NPU-related software technologies. You will take ownership of the entire IP lifecycle—from invention discovery and patent filing strategies to portfolio management.
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of AI and software technologies who can make strategic decisions about what innovations should be protected, how broadly those rights should be secured, and how to strengthen those rights so they can be effectively leveraged in disputes, licensing, and commercial transactions. This role places greater value on the strength and quality of IP rights than on the number of patent filings, with opportunities to expand into broader IP policy and strategic initiatives over time.
✅ Key Responsibilities
- Lead domestic and international patent filing and prosecution for Nota’s core technologies, including AI model compression and optimization, Edge AI, and NPU-related software.
- Define patent claim strategies, review claim scope, and determine prosecution strategies, including responses to Office Actions (OAs).
- Identify inventions, evaluate patentability, and develop patent portfolio strategies.
- Manage and maintain domestic and international IP portfolios, including patents and trademarks, ensuring audit readiness for public company compliance, M&A, and investment due diligence.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to assess IP risks, conduct competitor patent analysis, and perform Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) reviews.
- Manage relationships with external patent law firms while overseeing filing quality and IP-related costs.
✅ Requirements
- Qualified Patent Attorney, or 5+ years of patent practice experience at a patent law firm or an in-house IP department.
- Strong expertise in AI, software, or related technology fields, with the ability to develop meaningful patent claim strategies.
- Experience handling patent prosecution, including Office Action responses, in major jurisdictions such as the United States.
- No disqualifications for overseas travel.
✅ Pluses
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience handling patents related to semiconductors (NPUs) or Edge AI technologies.
- Experience managing international patent filings and prosecution across multiple jurisdictions, including Europe and China.
- Experience with IP due diligence, licensing, technology transfer, infringement analysis, or invalidity assessments.
- In-house IP experience at a publicly listed company or a high-growth technology company.
- Understanding of adjacent IP topics, including open-source software licensing and trade secret protection.
✅ Hiring Process
- Document Screening → 1st Interview → 2nd Interview → 3rd Interview → Offer → Hire
(Additional assignments may be included during the process.)
🤓 A Message from the Team
As a fast-growing, publicly listed AI company, Nota recognizes that a strong patent portfolio is essential to protecting its core technologies. We view patents not simply as a numbers game, but as strategic assets that safeguard the business, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about strengthening the quality and value of those rights.
In this role, you will work closely with experts across R&D, Information Security, and other technical teams to protect the company's most valuable assets at the intersection of technology and business. While a patent attorney qualification is certainly valued, we place even greater importance on hands-on experience making strategic IP decisions. If you have built your expertise in a patent law firm or an in-house IP team, we encourage you to apply.
