Paint Application Engineer
From applied research to advanced engineering, the Color, Material and Finish team has the expertise to shape ground-breaking products, material and processes. It’s a fascinating field of work. We’re involved in assessing the competition, developing technology and product strategies and generating intellectual property. We lead technology investigations, analyze industry capabilities and recommend potential acquisitions or vendor partner opportunities. Our insights influence product architecture and definitions. What you’ll achieve:
You will be part of a growing team of technical subject matter experts who are passionate about driving technology incubations enhancing the customer experience. In this role you are part of a global interdisciplinary design and technology organization where you will be collaborating with teammates, product engineering, marketing, corporate sustainability and other critical stakeholders. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for technology, an open mind, and a desire to continuously learn new things. The primary focus of this role will be to work directly with our suppliers to ensure process meets performance requirements, cosmetic requirements and drive process improvements to improve cost.

You will:
- Develop and maintain expertise in paint application processes and technologies
- Collaborate with paint applicators to identify and implement process improvements
- Analyze and optimize paint application processes to reduce costs and improve yield rates
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of paint application lines to ensure compliance with requirements
- Evaluate and recommend new paint technologies and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost.
Collaborate with suppliers and partners to align their technology roadmaps with Dell's strategic objectives .

Essential Requirements
- Expertise in spray painting and powder coating, as well as surface preparation methods like sanding, blasting, and chemical treatment
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems, with a strong focus on root cause analysis and creative problem-solving.
- Ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers, partners, and internal stakeholders to drive business outcomes and ensure seamless communication.
Proven ability to influence and drive change across multiple stakeholders, with a strong focus on driving business outcomes and implementing process improvements.
- Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization, with a strong understanding of how to navigate complex organizational structures.
Proven ability to drive technical excellence and best practices within the team, with a strong focus on ensuring high-quality engineering solutions and continuous process improvement.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Manufacturing Engineering or Chemistry
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with DELL's product development cycle with a passion to bring new technologies from idea to reality.
- Experience with typical finishes and surface treatments used for electronics
- Experience working in electronics supply chain in an ODM model.
